de liliac de pe Bussey Hill (traditie datand inca din 1908), cu traditia picnicului romanesc, in
Duminica Liliacului, in inima plantatiei celor 408 de tufe de liliac, in jurul mesteacanului carpatin.
Umpleti-va cosuletele de picnic si veniti sa impartasim bunatatile si veselia, la un pahar de
vorba buna, romaneasca!

Pentru ca a devenit deja o traditie sa cantam colinde romanesti in Natick, anul aceasta am primit cu bucurie invitatia Centrului Cultural din Natick de a fi parte din Ceremonia de aprindere a luminilor bradului de Craciun in parc, sambata, 2 decembrie 2023, la ora 3:30 pm.
Cum am putea onora mai frumos Romania in acest weekend, decat prin a impartasi traditia colindelor noastre intre sarbatorile iernii din New England?
Va invitam sa va puneti straie de sarbatoare si sa intarim corul in cantarile frumoase.
Dupa aceasta ora, ne vom indreapta spre Lookout Farm (89 Pleasant St, South Natick MA 01760 ) pentru a ne incalzi cu o cana de cidru si a glumi romaneste!

Duminica Liliacului | Lilac Sunday

Echipa AR-NE va invita și în acest an la Duminica Liliacului la Arnold Arboretum pe 14 Mai între 11am și 3 pm.
De 15 ani locul intalnirii ramane acelasi, in inima plantatiei de liliac, pe Bussey Hill, la umbra Mesteacanului din Carpati! Intre cele 399 de plante, veti descoperi o planta “Lilac Sunday”, introdusa de botanistii parcului in 1997, care produce buchete de flori de pana la 60 cm!!!!!

Cand:	Duminica, 14 mai 2023, 11am-3pm
Unde:	Locul de intalnire: Patratul 14 (grupul de mesteceni de pe deal) marcat cu „X” pe pe harta de mai jos. Accesul vizitatorilor in parc este gratuit. Cu metroul se ajunge usor la statia Forest Hills pe Orange Line. Daca veniti cu masina, parcarea este admisa pe strazile din jurul parcului.
Detalii:	Ca si in anii precedenti, fiecare este liber sa aduca ce doreste de mancat si de baut (potluck).

Of the thousands of flowering plants in the Arboretum, only one, the lilac, is singled out each year for a daylong celebration. With more than 399 lilac plants of 177 kinds, the Arboretum holds one of the premier lilac collections in North America. Tours of the lilacs, family activities, food vendors, and picnicking (on this special day only) make for a memorable day. We challenge you to discover the lilac called “Lilac Sunday” introduced in 1997, a spectacular plant that can produce clusters of flowers more than two feet long!

When:	Sunday, May 14-th, 2023, 11am-3:00pm
Where:	Meeting spot: Square 14 (birch trees on the hill) marked with “X” on the map above. Entrance to the park is free. Street parking along the Arboretum perimeter is limited. The nearest MBTA station is Forrest Hills on the Orange line.

Filmul Capra cu Trei Iezi | Romanian Movie screening in Boston

AR-NE va invita la o proiectie speciala a filmului Capra cu trei iezi, urmata de intalnirea cu regizorul Victor Canache si producatoarea Luana Gergita.
Lansat in iunie 2022 la TIFF filmul a luat cu asalt publicul, in special cel tanar, castigand Premiul Publicului, doua nominalizari si facand sali pline in lunile urmatoare, pe parcursul caravanei cinematografice in Romania.
Peste 7 milioane de vizualizari pe TikTok, #2 cel mai cautat film pe Google, #1 la Box-office in weekend ul de deschidere.
Din decembrie 2022 filmul si regizorul sau au revenit in SUA pentru a prezenta filmul si a povesti odiseea lui, la doi ani distanta de vizita pe care o facea cu varianta scurta. (Boston, 22 februarie 2020).
Daca va intrebati ce mai poate fi nou de aflat despre binecunoscuta poveste a lui Ion Creanga, va invitam la film si la sesiunea de intrebari de dupa si speram sa gasiti mai mult decat raspunsuri.

AR-NE invites you to the Boston premiere of the movie The Goat and Her Three Kids a special screening followed by a Q&A session with Victor Canache-Director and Screen player.
Based on one of the most popular Romanian story published in 1875 by Ion Creanga (one of the most known and loved author in Romania) and following very closely the storyline, this movie brings the story back in the human world.
Though, in recent years, the controversy formed around this story may be it’s demise. Elements that for centuries have held their place into it’s narrative are now euphemized or erased because of their violent nature. Transitioning it into film ensures it’s preservation and survival, into a more proper context and medium, conferring everyone the opportunity to revisit the old, original version when ready to do so, said Victor Canache

Asociația Românilor din New England (AR-NE) vă invită la evenimentul Martisoare si Potluck pe data de 18 Februarie 2023 intre orele 2 – 5 pm in Worcester, la 21 Cedar St. Copiii cat si adulții sunt invitați sa confecționeze mărțișoare, or pot cumpăra unele gata făcute. Pentru cei ce vor să creeze mărțișoare noi vom avea toate materiale disponibile. O mica donație e sugerata pentru a acoperi costurile acestor materiale. In același timp, va invitam sa ne bucuram si de o gustare de genul Potluck. Cine se pricepe si dorește sa participe va rugam să ne contactați pe e-mail la info@ar-ne.org pentru a discuta meniul.

Cu ocazia sărbătorilor de iarna Asociația Romanilor din New England (AR-NE) va invita si anul acesta la un program de voie buna si colinde. Întâlnirea se va desfășura pe data de 17 Decembrie 2022 la ora 3:00 pm linga Natick Common, in fata la First Congregational Church in Natick si va face parte din Natick Holiday Stroll. Adresa este: 2 E Central St, Natick, MA 01760. Parcare se găsește la meteres chiar lingă parc, sau in lotul de parcare Pond St Parking Lot. Se găsesc de cumpărat cafea, ciocolata calda, ceai si altele la Sweetwaters Coffee lingă parc, pentru a va încălzi. Planuim si o cina dupa eveniment, in jur de ora 5. We will meet across from Natick Common in front of the First Congregational Church at 3:00 pm on December 17th 2022. Th event will be part of Natick Holiday Stroll and the address of the church is 2 E Central St, Natick, MA 01760. There is parking at the meters right next to the park, or at Pond St. Parking Lot. Hot drinks are available for purchase at Sweetwaters Coffee near the Common, to keep you warm. We are also planning to stay for dinner after the event at around 5 pm. Schimb de plante, joaca si voie buna in parc | Plant exchange and Playdate on June 4th

Vă invităm la o nouă întâlnire AR-NE pentru marcarea începutului verii. Cu această ocazie, dorim să organizăm un schimb de plante, și să sărbătorim copiii cu ocazia zilei de 1 iunie.

Vă rugăm să aduceți plante de apartament, bulbi, răsaduri, sau chiar și butași pe care să le oferiți la schimb cu alte plante. În tot acest timp, cei mici vor avea ocazia de a se antrena la joacă pe terenurile alăturate. Va rugăm să aduceți mingii, cretă colorată, baloane de săpun, rachete de badminton și fluturași, sau alte accesorii de joacă. Ne dorim ca atât copiii cât și adulții să se simtă bine.

The ARNE team invites you to an outdoors event marking the arrival of summer. We will organize a plant swap event on June 4th, and will celebrate kids for their June 1st day. For those interested please bring an indoor or outdoor plant, bulb, seedling, or cutting to trade. Meanwhile, the little ones will be able to play in the adjacent fields. Please bring games, balls, coloring chalk, soap bubbles, badminton rackets and shuttlecocks, or any other playing accessory. It is our desire for both the kids and adults to have a great time!

The Association of Romanians in New England invites the children to a playdate! Meet us at John J Lane Park on Saturday November 6th between 2:30 and 5:00 pm. We encourage our kids to practice speaking Romanian at the playground. Our Volunteers will lead them into playing some well loved Romanian games such as Baba Oarba, V-ati-ascunselea, Tara Tara Vrem Ostasi. Baloons and Facepainting will also be available. Please note that parents and/or grandparents should be with the children at all times. The park’s address is:

ILEANA, PRINCESS OF ROMANIA

History is one of the three main genres in Western theater alongside tragedy and comedy, although it originated, in its modern form, thousands of years later than the other primary genres.
Dramatization by Edith Negulici after the autobiographical novel “I Live Again”, the performance about Princess Ileana’s life is a charming and dramatic evocation of the main moments in the life of the author and of the history she had lived.

“Yes, to live again, because after I left home, which for me was always Romania, I was as dead. Not the circumstances were hard to bear, but even the need to live. I never doubted of the necessity of being close to my six children, but inside, the “personal self” that existed independent of the mother, the wife, the friend who I was – the essential ego, on which all was built – suffered a deadly shock when I was dismissed from my people.” – Princess Ileana

In 1950, she and the children moved to the United States, where she bought a house in Newton, Massachusetts.

In 1961, Ileana entered the Orthodox Monastery of the Protection of the Mother of God, in Bussy-en-Othe, France. On her tonsuring as a monastic, in 1967, Sister Ileana was given the name Mother Alexandra. She moved back to the United States and founded the Orthodox Monastery of the Transfiguration in Ellwood City, Pennsylvania, the first English language Orthodox monastery in North America. She was the third female descendant of Queen Victoria to become a Mother Superior in a convent of her own foundation. She served as abbess until her retirement in 1981, remaining at the monastery until her death.

Princess Ileana fought for others, was at the service of her people, and served those in need. She created hospitals, canteens, nursing schools, all sorts of ways to raise funds for wounded, orphaned, ill, poor, less fortunate than her, who was the daughter of an important King, Ferdinand Integrator and a Queen of Excellence, Queen Mary of Romania.
The life of Princess Ileana/Mother Alexandra, imposes her as a model to be followed and legitimizes her in front of posterity.”

In honor of New Philharmonia Orchestra’s founding Music Director, Ronald Knudsen (1932 – 2015), a veteran BSO violinist, the orchestra continues to dedicate its spring concert to his memory and presents one of the great violin concertos.
