Mothers Day picnic was a success

The Association of Romanians in New England, along with Romani in Boston (Facebook) and Romanian Moms (Yahoo) co-organized a Romanian picnic in Arnold Arboretum Sunday May 8, 2011.

The Arnold Arboretum of Harvard University is the oldest public arboretum in North America and one of the world’s leading centers for the study of plants. Of the thousands of flowering plants in the Arboretum, only one, the lilac, is singled out each year for a daylong celebration on Mothers’ Day. Tours of the lilacs, dance performances, picnicking (allowed on this special day only), and family activities make for a memorable day.

The supreme European club soccer competition, UEFA Champions League will be crowning its 2011 winner on Saturday, May 28th, 2011: the final will oppose Manchester United and FC Barcelona in London, on the famous “Wembley” stadium.

The seminar on “Estate Planning” was considered a success by all participants surveyed

On Wednesday February 9th AR-NE successfully organized a seminar entitled “Estate Planning”, a topic suggested by participants at previous seminars. Many thanks to our invited speaker Charles O’Connell Esq. TEP, of Taylor, Ganson & Perrin LLP of Boston MA for taking time out of his busy schedule, to Ameriprise Financial Services in Charlestown, MA for hosting the event, and to those who attended the event. The feedback from participants was very positive with respect to the speaker and the presentation – “Excellent presentation” and “Great choice of presenter” were just some of the comments made. AR-NE Seminar – “IT Outsourcing to Romania” – Report

The first informational AR-NE seminar of 2011 took place on Wednesday, the 26th of January. Many thanks to The Mathworks, Inc. who made available to us a conference room at their Natick, MA campus, the invited speakers from IT Six Global Services who took time out of their busy schedule, and the participants who braved the winter storm to attend the seminar.

The two representatives from IT Six, Sorin Gavanescu – CEO and Dan Tusaliu – Director of Business Development, were in Boston for their Road Show USA business trip and kindly agreed to give a presentation on IT Outsourcing to Romania. Romanians of New England Fair – Report

The first annual Romanians of New England Fair was a great success. This event, organized by the Association of Romanians in New England (AR-NE), took place on Saturday, the 4th of December 2010, in the three studios made available through the generosity of the International Ballet Academy of Norwell, (www.IBANorwell.org), at 34 Accord Park Dr, Norwell MA.

The fair took place between 4PM and 8PM and included individual stands for participating organizations in Studio I, a common stand for those organizations that could not attend with a representative, presentations in Studio II, as well as a separate room and Studio III dedicated to children’s activities. More than 20 Romanian organizations and professionals from New England participated, either with individual stands or by sending materials for display at the common stand (promotional materials, CDs for sale,etc).
